Hyderabad ORR Up For A Beautification Drive

The Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), has proposed to take up a beautification programme on the traffic islands of the Outer Ring Road (ORR). HMDA officials have proposed artifacts, sculptures, hard and soft landscaping, water bodies, and fountains on the traffic islands.
The sculpture, besides being aesthetically appealing, should also be informative and educating. Themes on culture/heritage of Hyderabad, features of ORR and its surroundings or modern arts etc are welcome. The sculpture work should be executed in steel, rock, cement, sand or any non-hazardous material with all weather resistance coating for exterior application, officials said.

A committee will finalise the beautification concept/design to be executed in the designated traffic islands. The selected firm will bear all expenditure of work execution and maintain the traffic island for the stipulated period at their own cost. In turn, the HMDA will permit the firm to display advertisement boards there during the period.
